Your attendance at a wedding is greater than,
“am I available”, “do I like him/her”, or “party time”.
Your attendance is a statement.
The reason that guests are invited to a wedding,
and your reason for attending may be two different things.
You may have been invited because you are friends, or relatives of the couple.
However, your attendance is to “witness” their commitment to each other,
and to keep them in remembrance of that commitment.
It is to say that you will support their union,
and will do your part to encourage and strengthen their union,
so that it can continue to glorify God.
You will keep them lifted in prayer when the going gets tough,
and rejoice with them when they find their way back to each other.
If you can’t say that, “RSVP no”.
